Christmas shopping is in full swing with Black Friday and Cyber Monday happening in the last week. If you’re one of the many (like me) who hasn’t finished (or started) your Christmas shopping here’s some ideas for gifts for the active and health conscious people on your list!

Cranberry-Orange Bread

This is another one of those recipes that I wait all year to make.  You can use frozen cranberries in this bread , which means you can make it any time of the year, but I always seem to wait until I see those bags of fresh cranberries in the produce area before I make it.  It makes it seem more seasonal for me that way.  I usually make the first one a day before for Thanksgiving morning breakfast.  I figure with all the other cooking and baking that goes on during the day on Thanksgiving that having something already made for breakfast starts my day off to a good start and makes me feel like I’m a little ahead. Just A Jump to The Left

I’m not surrounded by people anymore. There are some days I don’t use my voice until the evening when everyone comes home from work. In college, there were times I got into arguments because I didn’t want to go anywhere but I usually gave in anyway. People can be exhausting but I’m having crowd withdrawal, social withdrawal.

Excitement is like static in the air and rejuvenates the body. Hearing the music clips between plays, vibrant and dramatic, my hips tensed. I wanted to dance for, seemingly, no reason at all. As the character Christina in Grey’s Anatomy says, “Shut up and dance.” Continue reading

More exciting: Thanksgiving or Black Friday?

In my family the kids are defiantly more excited about Thanksgiving so that they can see their cousins and go to Grandma’s house.  I’m torn. I love Thanksgiving and seeing the family. I’m also thankful for Black Friday though. I hate going out to the big stores like Target or Best Buy because they are crazy and the stuff I want is always gone, since they only seem to carry 2 of each item. But love going to places like Carson’s or Gap Outlet and getting great deals and getting most of my Christmas Shopping done in one day. So whichever you love, it’s a fun holiday, Enjoy!

Giving thanks

It’s well know that I am a huge dog lover. My dogs are my kids and I’d do anything I could for them. This week one of my kids took a turn for the worse. Something cause my Shepherd Jazz to get sick over the weekend and a domino effect began and has ended up with her in the veterinary animal hospital.

The initial shock was how sick she really was and then the sucker punch came when we were given estimate for her care for 48 hours. But she’s my kid and I couldn’t let her down so she’ll spend the next couple of days under the careful watch of the hospital staff and we’ll see how she does. Continue reading
