Summer Concert Ticket Wish List
In the just the past few weeks, the events calendar here in Indy has really filled up. Summer concerts are one of my favorite things in the world, because for more, there’s quite possibly nothing better than live music. I love it all in any genre.
So here’s my wish list of summer concerts in Indy. No, it’s not a complete listing of concerts coming to town, and there are bound to be many, many more added in the coming weeks. These are just the ones that really excite me. (Don’t get me started on my girl crush on Miranda Lambert.) And as you will notice, my list is extensive, and I cannot possibly attend all these shows. But that’s why it’s called a wish list. Continue reading
Racing for a Cure. And for Her.
(Before you wonder where the usual popcorn-eating, novel-reading, awards show-absorbing Celeste is, fear not – she’s still here. Just tackling a bigger issue today. And I saw “The Hunger Games” and loved every minute of it.)
They’re probably two of the most frightening words a woman could hear – breast cancer. I’ve seen some of the strongest, most beautiful women in my life who faced this battle head on. Some were blessed to overcome and others ultimately lost the battle. And all of these women hold a special place in my heart because they each displayed the kind of poise, strength and determination than I don’t think I could ever possess.
My mom’s best friend, Jenny, had several bouts with breast cancer. And she beat it – so many times. But ultimately, the cancer had the last word, when Jenny passed away in 2008. She was a mother, grandmother, teacher, friend and so much more. She was a survivor.
My sister-in-law’s mother, Shelvy, battled breast cancer a few years ago. She’s quite possibly one of the happiest, kindest people I’ve ever met in my life. I remember thinking how unfair it is that the best people in this world are given some of the toughest tasks. But thankfully, she’s now cancer-free and going strong. She’s a survivor. The Hunger Games. (AKA I Have A Serious Problem.)
If you haven’t caught on by now, I am a book nerd. And if they make into a movie? Count me in.
Harry Potter. The Help. Twilight. Yes, I’ve read them and watched them all. So it should come as no surprise that I’m beyond ecstatic about today’s premiere of The Hunger Games. Mostly because this trilogy was a new record for me. I, Celeste The Book Nerd, finished all three books in less than one week.
Have you ever watched Intervention? Where addicts are sneaky with their booze, obsessed about their illegal drugs and constantly looking for their next high? And you know how it impacts their family just as much as the addict? That’s me – but with the right kind of books. My child may or may not have gone to school without his coat. (Don’t judge.) I didn’t really speak to my husband. (“Honey, shush.”) And TV – my other favorite escape in the world? Who needs it? I. Was. Reading. At work, I wondered if I could crawl under my desk and sneak in a quick page or two, and if anyone would notice. I’d count down to lunchtime because: 1. I love lunch. and 2. I could spend some quiet time with the citizens of Panem. So you get it… I was addicted.
The film based on the first book The Hunger Games comes out today. Luckily for my family, this obsession only has a total running time of 142 minutes.
No, I didn’t go see it at midnight. (Contrary to the first two paragraphs, I DO have limits.) But as I’m going on vacation tomorrow, can you guess what’s first on the agenda? Happy Hunger Games!
Did you hear? The Super Bowl is coming.
Apparently, this little football game is coming to Indy in just less than a month. THE SUPER BOWL! It’s going to be here, the teams, the media, the tourists, the celebrities, the fans… They’re all packing our Midwestern city for a week of craziness. But is there enough room for all of them and all of us who were here already? We’ll just wait and see…
There’s quite literally something for everyone. And if you just want to avoid the crowds, traffic, etc., there’s something for you too.
